The Volante Vision has been conceptualized as a research and development platform by SuperVolant, so no timeline has been released regarding an actual flight test or certification plan. However, in order to validate theoretical models, the company will at some point be required to build a prototype and prove its concept. The prototype leverages the Aston Martin brand awareness and may be indicative of the next generation of Aston Martin vehicles (both land-based and aerial). This being said, the luxury finishings and stylization lend this aircraft to be less suitable for widespread commercial operations to the average consumer. Instead, it would likely fill a niche for a premium service offered to high-paying passengers. Check back in for more updates in the future.

Pterodynamics Transwing

Quick Summary
The Pterodynamics Transwing is an eVTOl that utilizes a foldable wing to land in confined spaces. The wing then folds out for sustained and accelerated forward flight.
Stage of Development
Preliminary Design
Technical Details
Aircraft Type: Winged VTOL
Powerplant: All-electric
Range: 20 miles
Top Speed: 70 knots
Propeller Configuration: 4 tiltrotors
Passenger/Payload Capacity: TBD
Autonomy Level: Remote Pilot Controlled
Dimensions: 2 ft wingspan, 2.8 ft length
Our Take on the Transwing
According PteroDynamics, performance figures will be backed by their 12-foot scale model of the prototype that they plan to build and test, however no expected dates are available at this time. The core advantage of the Transwing, according to Pterodynamics, is the "multicoptor" configuration that then shifts to a conventional aircraft configuration for increased range and speed.
Transwing's success is largely dependent on whether the 12 foot prototype can be scaled effectively to a full-size model and maintain the performance expectations that have been established thus far.

Ehang Advances Testing Efforts in US, Dubai, and Australia

A PR representative from the company [Ehang] told the Global Times on Sunday that they are pushing test flight cooperation projects for its Ehang 184 Autonomous Aerial Vehicle with a number of governments, including the US, Dubai and Australia.
The fast rise of Chinese-made drones in overseas market is due largely to their cost-effective nature, according to experts.
Ke Yubao, executive secretary general of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China, stated on Sunday that “Chinese commercial drones are much cheaper than locally made drones in those countries, but they offer very good quality, mainly due to low manufacturing costs in China.”
Military drone exports from China are also increasing, as Ke. In general, the saturation of manufacturing skill in the Chinese market is allowing for greater numbers of exports of both product and testing plan – in this case a Chinese company attempting to outsource their flight testing to traditionally more strict regulatory agencies like the FAA. Australia’s Aviation regulatory agency – the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is also a traditionally firm agency in terms of safety and process standards.
Why it’s important: A Chinese Air Taxi manufacturer is seeking out Dubai, Australia and the US for its flight testing and certification efforts in lieu of pursuing domestic certification in China. Most likely, this move is to improve trust in a Chinese-designed and built air taxi system by natively certifying it within specific countries that are also slated to be pilot locations for the UberAIR initiative, slated to launch in 2023.

Range: ~5696 miles
Top Speed: 270 mph
Propeller Configuration: 4 electric propulsion motors
Passenger/Payload Capacity: 5400 lbs / 2454 kg
Autonomy Level: Semi-Autonomous/remote pilot
Dimensions: 38 ft 1 in wingspan, 28 ft 2 in fuselage length, 6 ft 9 in height (gear retracted)
Other Information:
Empty Weight: 2399 lbs / 1090 kg
Maximum Gross Weight: 8836 lbs / 4016 kg
Internal Cargo Volume: 570 cu.ft / 16 cu.m
Satellite: Inmarsat
Transponder: uAvionix Ping 200SR Mode-S/ADS-B
Sense-And-Avoid: Attollo Engineering WASP-LRF 200/100
Autopilot: EuroAvionics RN-7 (Triple-Redundant w/IMU)
The Rhaegal RG-1 is designed to fly non-stop and un-refueled for 4500 nautical miles (8800 kilometers). It launches from a standard runway, and provides near-real-time video from on-board the air vehicle for the first 150 miles of flight. At cruise altitude, it then switches to high-resolution, low-light, on-board cameras that are updated every 5 seconds and provide a view of the aircraft path and the air vehicle's location over land or water. Day or night, good weather or bad, the Rapier has the capability of flying for days without stopping or refueling.
For added safety, the Rhaegal RG-1 has a unique, proprietary sense-and-avoid sensor suite that detects objects that may conflict with the air vehicle's flight path - and can instantly turn right or left, climb or descend - to autonomously avoid anything in its way...even as small as a bird. The Rhaegal RG-1 can even fly safely on two rotors - and every essential system on board is redundant to assure mission completion.
The Rhaegal RG-1 is controlled via satellite, and is in constant communication with both the Launch and Recover Element ("LRE" - located at the launch point in Japan) and Mission Control Element ("MCE" - located at the destination landing point of Moffett Field, Mountain View, California, USA). The air vehicle is monitored by two pilots on the ground, in constant contact with Air Traffic Control. The trip is expected to last about 45 hours - and provide spectacular views of the air vehicle and its flight path - both day and night - while in flight.
The entire flight - from takeoff, climb, cruise and landing - will be available on the Pacific Drone ChallengeTM website.
Our Take on the Draco-2
The Rhaegal RG-1 UAS is being constructed by a formidable team, and is designed to achieve impressive, if aspirational, performance predictions. The Rhaegal RG-1 range of 4500nm is one of the highest among any eVTOL, and a high figure among aircraft in general. Additionally, the engineering and flight testing operations team at Sabrewing is very well experienced and versed in high-risk test operations and has successfully shepherded a large number of experimental flight test programs (including the Red Bull Stratos jump) through safe completion. Although prototype photos are available on Sabrewing's website, no recent progress has been made public regarding the development of the Rhaegal RG-1.

Additional Information
Boeing is accelerating breakthrough advancements in autonomous air travel.
It recently completed initial flight tests of an electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) unmanned cargo aerial vehicle (CAV) prototype. The innovative platform is designed to test and evolve Boeing’s autonomy technology for future aerospace vehicles.
In less than three months, Boeing engineers designed and built the CAV prototype, which stands four feet off the ground, measures 15 by 18 feet and weighs more than 700 pounds. It is outfitted with eight counter-rotating propeller blades and custom Boeing batteries that allow for vertical flight.
Researchers are transforming the remote control-operated CAV prototype into an autonomous aircraft capable of carrying up to 500 pounds. The technology opens up new possibilities for delivering time-sensitive and high-value goods, conducting autonomous missions in remote or dangerous environments, and other applications.
Our Take on the CAV
Boeing's CAV project is unique in that it completed an entire product conception, design, production, and flight test cycle in around three months, which is extremely quick for the aerospace industry. This project is also unique because it is Boeing native; although Boeing acquired Aurora Flight Sciences in November of 2017, Boeing itself is continuing its own research into the eVTOL field. The 500 lbs payload capacity is one of the highest for any logistical application and is likely gaining the attention of Wal-Mart, UPS, and Amazon as they scale their on-demand delivery services via drone.
